During a peaceful protest in Koinadugu District, local law enforcement opened fire on student protestors killing several students including Project 1808’s very own Borboh Savage.
The protest had been organized in response to the presidents announcement that the construction of a skills training Youth Village would be moved to a neighboring community. The Youth Village had been promised to the Kabala community in 2014. In response, students and community leaders organized to demonstrate their frustration and feelings of marginalization.
As many as four were killed as a result of the police response to the protest.
Borboh was a talented student and leader who had been with Project 1808 for many years. Now to honor him, we are collecting contributions to create a scholarship fund in his name.
